Job Description The Department of Art is housed within the ISU College of Arts and Letters. We are seeking an assistant professor of art for 2022-2023. This position will serve as the digital media specialist for our new BFA in Digital Media. The successful applicant will teach a broad range of courses in studio art as their primary responsibility, provide leadership and ongoing development of one or more studio areas, actively engage in their research/creative work, and be strongly involved with service activities. The typical teaching load is six courses per year (3/3). Key responsibilities include:
Teach a broad range of courses in studio art as their primary responsibility
Provide leadership and ongoing development of one (or more) media areas; including digital media
Oversight of budget, materials, and studio maintenance
Provide instruction regarding contemporary theory and interdisciplinary practice and issues in contemporary art and culture
Actively engage in their creative work
Be strongly involved with department service activities such as advising, student recruitment and retention, departmental exhibitions, and outreach
Participation in service that may include professional, college and university service
Master of Fine Arts Degree
Demonstrated record of creative research and active exhibition record
Demonstrated potential for successful university level teaching
Expertise in digital media
Expertise in one or more studio areas: printmaking and drawing
Ability to offer foundations and drawing courses
Evidence of successful university level teaching experience, preferably beyond TA
