About Sioux City Art Center
Founded as a WPA Art Center in 1938, the Sioux City Art Center is an AAM-accredited art museum located in Sioux City, Iowa, a city of 85,000 people, located along the banks of the Missouri and Big Sioux Rivers. The Art Center is a municipal art museum with exhibitions, programs, and classes that are financed through private support. Sioux City features a thriving cultural scene with live theaters, music venues, artist studios, orchestra, and dynamic colleges, yet the community maintains a surprisingly low cost of living. The Art Center is housed in a signature facility designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The 45,800 square-foot building features six exhibition galleries with a combined total of more than 11,000 square feet. In 2018, the Art Center opened an additional 11,000 square-foot building on its campus in which all studio classes are conducted.
